Service was ok. Food is ok. Tsukemen is good cold but the tonkotsu had over cooked noodles.
This area of Robson does not need another one, that being said I walked in here with my significant other with an open mind to try the new kid on the block. Seems like people are still hopping on this ramen train till it dies. Their tsukemen noodles.... just as the stringy things go were alright.. but the dipping sauce... it was over oily... I felt that if I continued eating their maybe serious consequences with my arteries. The one real bright spot is the Dashimaki tamago... this thing was done excellent but unfortunately you are a ramen restaurant and the bulk of this will be judged on the main course. A plus.. for now is that there is no minimum charge... so do come for the egg!
Small but friendly place. Great non-grease authentic Japanese ramen place. Great lunch combo deals as well. Thumbs up.
Really tasty tsukemen ramen (miso) and awesome mini portable burner solution (using some blue gel) to keep the dipping broth hot hot hot! The service is great and the atmosphere is very traditional. I would go again. The price is decent (a bit on pricey side) and I did see that they advertised vegetarian options.
Tried their black tonkosu, taste was good but I feel that the soup wasn't hot enough. Will give it a try next time. Oh you gotto try their chicken karaage
Many options that are all delicious. The garlic miso deluxe tsukomen is a little spicy. The tantanmen is spicy and Amazing!
Pretty good place. Had the black garlic ramen and the chicken ramen, both were delish.
Great ramen. Stands apart from the big names of Robson st (Santouka, Marutama, Danbo, Kintaro). Thick noodles, hearty broth, great toppings and side dishes. You like pizza? They have tomato cheese ramen! The miso garlic ramen is a lot more garlicky than the black garlic ramen and is slightly spicy. Awesome on a cold winter day!I like how they are different enough from the rest of the ramen places around them and offer interesting variety.
I suggest they improve their customer service. I got pretty upset that a server told ignored me when I raised my hands when I wanted to order. So another server came to take my order. However, I raised my hand again for soy sauce and she came to tell me do not raise my hand. I wondered if she could read my mind if I didn't put my hands up. Anyways, her attitude was completely unreasonable and the food is under my expectations. I'll not go there again or recommend it to my friends.
Both my husband and I felt sick after having their ramen. The tsukemen was salty and greasy. The atmosphere was good and environment was clean though.
Visited on a Tuesday night around 7:30. Service was quick, the food was authentic and excellent, and the price is competitive. Would visit again!
Some of the best food I've ever had the tsukemen that was their special was amazing. Fusion of ramen and hotpot in a rich creamy broth combined with incredibly friendly service. Amazing.
Best ramen, the soup not too salty, you'll have everything in your ramen, no need to pay extra, must try pork donburi. Weekday lunch combo is very good value. Everything is just right! I love it!
Korean flavour ramen, different from normal Japanese ramen place. Soup too salty and thick without any meat broth flavour.
Their thick soup bases are a refreshing change from other ramen spots. We enjoyed every item we ordered. Can't go wrong!
Nice cozy place runs by real Japanese serving excellent ramen. Very friendly staff. Price is a bit on the high side but it's worthy.
Pretty decent value for the lunch combo here. Chicken Karage was great and it wasn't as packed to the walls as the other Ramen places on the block.
Mine was delicious, it was their new release, I don't remember what it was called though. Also they had great chicken karaage. The ramen my boyfriend got was way too heavy though, it was a black garlic oil concoction that was more oil than soup. It was very rich and the first mouthful was great but one mouthful was heavy enough to be a full meal.
I was certain the last thing this neighbourhood needed was another ramen joint, but in fact, I was wrong. We did and this is it! The broth is unctuous and flavourful in the tonkotsu black, which is delightful overall. I also had the Japanese fried rice which was a huge portion. Loved it so much have already eaten there two days in a row.
Ordered the Tsukemen with extra noodle. Didn't know the extra noodle was another whole portion of noodles. The dipping sauce came with its own burner to keep it piping hot. Everything was great, no complaints!
The soup is very tasty and a little bit of diff toppings. I like the diff things that can be added as a side dish for $3.75. The portion is not huge but no line ups and very filling.
Hidden gem...as in one the best in the neighbourhood without long line ups.
I'm not a well versed in how Japanese ramen are supposed to be like, but I'm not a fan of the ramen here, the broth is too thick and greasy that it's hard to keep down. The place has quit a bit of fried food (or dish with fried components) on the menu. But the kitchen is connected to the dinning area all while having poor ventilation. We got there early evening and as the place filled up for dinner time the dinning area became filled with a mist of fumes along with the smell. After the dinner all of my friends were worried that their cloth would smell like the restaurant, that's certainly what my hair smelled like for the night.
Great location, excellent food and good atmosphere
Awesome ramen, very rich and flavourful broth. The kirage was among the best I've had. Can't wait to come back :)
Good various choice of ramen. Broth are great. Omelettes are a bit watery n flavorless tho.
I have tried broth less noodles first time. It was kinda of fun to be honest. Kind staff and fast service was plus too.
Good service and good food. Price is reasonable, especially the lunch combo 👍👍👍
A ramen place offers dishes more than just ramen . Chiken karagge served here .
Bit heavy, but very flavourful and delicious. If you shop at Safeway, there's a 20% coupon on the back.
Great tasting Tsukemen (best I've had in Vancouver) and side dishes with a hearty portion. However, the Ramen taste is a little lacking for me.
good chicken nugget ,雞🐔塊好吃
Been to many ramen places and this one has the smallest servings by far. It tastes very good though but tastes exactly same as the one near International Village. If you are bored of there ones nearby, it's OK to try.
Identical to Taishoken for ramen, with appies and slower atmosphere.
In close proximity of some of the best ramen places in the city, this place needs to step it up big time. Ordered a couple of different ramen bowls with friends and everyone was disappointed. No flavour in the broth and meat was chewy and greasy. Veggie Ramen was too spicy.
Had the tsukamen was very flat taste to it -- not much flavor depth to it other than salt and oil. The service was pleasant but very slow during non rush hour.
Truly deep broth! It was their second day, staffs were friendly and interior seems nice. Their ramen style seems quite different with existing Ramen places. Worth it trying!
Good food and good service. Servings were a bit smaller.
Ordered the Tsukemen Original and the Black Garlic Tonkotsu. The black garlic was the best 5/5. Tsukemen was 4/5 (something lacking but can't pinpoint). The chashu don was 3.5/5. I would recommend the black garlic. Service was great and the staff continually came to make sure everything was ok and refilled my water. I would give them a 4.5. Close but not 5 yet.
Sad this place is gone. They had a really good tsukemen and their regular ramen was good. Staff were really friendly and service was fast.
Decent prices, high quality food, friendly staff and fast service. Open until 10pm or later. Vegetarian options available
I tried the Tsukemen, which was extremely flavorful. I enjoyed it to the end. The Chashu was also fairly tasty. I wish they had homemade noodles to step the product up a notch. I cannot review the Ramen soup yet but will come back to try it.
Japan left me a bit picky when it comes to ramen, so I am always excited to see if new ramen shops will hit the spot. MEN-no Kura House of Ramen got so many things right. I never hesitate to recommend it to other ramen fans. I'm so glad I was in the neighbourhood and happened to spot the shop when I was looking for lunch. This place has got to be one of my favourite ramen shops in Vancouver. The broth was delicious. The noodles were a lovely firmness. The Karaage (chicken) was tender and juicy. The interior is gorgeous. The music playing (Nujabes, Slow Down by J. Han) was cool. The staff were friendly. If I lived closer, I'd be there all the time.
Different style of ramen, but I was a big fan of the kimchi flavor. Also ordered a side of karage, which was so-so. Price is good for the size and quality of the ramen. Also, was really nice to get a table right away unlike the other ramen shops in the area.
Overall, average.Doesn’t compare to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka which is just up the street with better portion size and quality ingredients.
1. Special 2. Delicious So far , it is best ramen house for me. However, I am sure that it's test is too special for a lot of non-Japanese.
Wonderful service. Amazing food. Highly recommended going if you're in the area.
[VEGN 🌿] Ordered vege miso ramen, vege croquette, and omelette. I have to say I was quite disappointed. While I appreciate their effort to provide a truly vegetarian broth that is not made of meat or seafood ingredients, the taste was plain, bland and the toppings were just cheap stuff (corn from a can, some bean sprouts and few pieces of zucchini) that don't really go well with ramen. There are many far better vegetarian ramens in town. The omelette was flavorless; they clearly didn't put much thoughts into it. The only good thing was the croquette, which was average. The waitress was very nice though. Overall, it was overpriced for the value. I hope they improve.[Two main veg options.]
The Chicken Karaage stole the show.
It is true that they have the best tsukemen in downtown and their food quality are constant. Small restaurant and the store looks normal. Foods are great. Pork, broth, noodles are 4.5 out of 5. The reason I give it a 4 because it is a really small restaurant and the store doesn't look as nice as other. Also food presentation is not as good as other
